Growing up singing gospel music, Jimmy developed an early interest in vocal performance. Years of church services and plays evolved into school choirs, musicals, and contests.
Once in the throes of vocal lessons and school choirs, ambition and a knack for unnecessary nostalgia led to barbershop quartets and solo contests; many of these groups and performances resulted in awards and commendations.
A peculiar turn sent him in the direction of rock music as well, during which the skill of playing drums and singing took hold. It took nearly 10 years before singing lead became a possibility, but throughout, harmony remained a necessity regardless of the availability of a microphone.
Once the hurdles of a Degree in Musical Theatre Performance and learning to survive in NYC had been surpassed, interest in a variety of musical endeavors took hold. From bluegrass to metalcore, from show tunes to classic rock, and from barbershop to hip-hop, Jimmy F's performances and skills have encompassed all ranges.
